Meeting a Seller near Campus
- Meet Where There Are People
- A campus gate with guards on it, a busy cafeteria or a shop front, in daylight. Not a hostel room, and not after dark.
- Check the Phone Before Any Money Moves
- Put your own SIM in and make a call. Try the camera, the speaker and the charging port, then dial *#06# and see that the IMEI matches the one in Settings.
- Pay on Handover
- Send M-Pesa once the phone is in your hand and you are happy with it. Walk away from anyone who wants a deposit to hold it for you.
- Take Someone With You
- A friend is a second pair of eyes on the phone and a reason for the meeting to stay short.
